Three Peas in a Pod (and Winston too!)

A blog describing our journey of raising our little girl Olivia

Olivia’s cute outfit November 10, 2009

I ordered Olivia this cute onesie a couple of weeks ago and guess what came on Friday.  I just noticed that her pants are a little short.  Guess we should move her up to the 3-6 month size.  Ha!

We had a pretty good weekend.  We did make it to the beach, but thanks to Hurricane Ida we didn’t stay long.  Even though we are not getting directly hit by Ida, we are feeling some of the repercussions (like the wind).  Other than that, it was a beautiful day!

In solid food news, Olivia has moved on to green beans.  At first we thought they would go down in the hate category, but she is starting to come around.  She loves her pears though!  Next up…bananas and peaches.  I have no doubts this little girl will like bananas as much as I craved them when I was pregnant (which is strange since I don’t particularly care for bananas).

We’re gearing up for a busy weekend – Mimi and Daddy Brant are coming to visit!  They will be here on Thursday.  They have so graciously agreed to babysit Olivia while Paul interviews at a couple of places on Friday and guess what?  We are having DATE NIGHT on Saturday.  Woo Hoo!  I think we will have drinks at one of the fancy places in South Beach and then head somewhere more reasonable for dinner.  I’m hoping we bump into some celebs.  Wouldn’t that be something?

Of course we will miss this little one like crazy!

We purchased patio furniture!  Paul and I spent 2 hours putting it all together.  We’re pretty pleased with the end product.  We plan on spending a lot of time on our rooftop terrace.

New Faces November 5, 2009

I made this face the other night while I was playing with Olivia and she just laughed and laughed.

Well, look what her favorite face is now.

DSCN1764

Paul said she started making this face the next day.  Now, she does it all the time…especially when she wants something.  I will have to say – she’s a fast learner!  But maybe I should have picked a prettier face to teach her.

Olivia reads all her cards November 3, 2009

Right before she eats them.

Olivia loves when we read to her.  She always reaches out and grabs the book and pays such close attention.

I feel like I have neglected Winston the past few months on this blog, so here is a picture of him enjoying the bone he got after his vet visit.

DSCN1750

He has actually lost a few pounds since we moved here and the vet said he does not need to gain any more weight.  I tried to explain that he just has a propensity to gain weight, but she wasn’t buying it.  So, it doesn’t look like he will get off of his Lite food anytime soon.  Boo!

Trick or Treat November 1, 2009

We had a great weekend as a family here in Miami celebrating Olivia’s first Halloween.  Due to the unseasonably warm weather, we had to change Olivia’s outfit.  Here was her original costume:

DSCN1728

That’s the cutest lobster I’ve ever seen in a pot!  I think she may have literally boiled in the 90 degree heat if we had her wear this costume.  So, we had to improvise.

DSCN1742

Here we are at the CocoWalk with my little ballerina.  I knew that tutu would come in handy.  We strolled around a little while and looked at all the cute dogs and kids dressed up.  Olivia was a hit!  Everyone commented on how cute she looked.

When we got home, we relaxed on the patio.  I can’t wait till we can take Olivia trick or treating!

DSCN1749

Paul and I enjoyed these Halloween themed cookies for dessert while watching the UT game.

We started squash this weekend.  Olivia looks excited about it, doesn’t she?  She didn’t like it as well as her carrots and sweet potatoes, but she still tolerated it.  This week… green veggies!  Yum!

I spent much of this morning with Winston at the vet.  He’s not sick, it was just time for his Wellness Exam and Bordatella shot.  He did great and was rewarded with a nice bone when we got home.

It is still too warm to head to the beach for any significant amount of time.  We hear a cool down is coming (by cool down I mean highs in the 80s) this week.  As long as this holds true, we will definitely make a beach trip next weekend.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I’ll leave you with a picture of our sweet little pumpkin.DSCN1739

Who’s Got Candy? October 30, 2009

In case you can’t tell, Olivia’s shirt says “Got Candy?”.  She was a little grouchy this morning.  She wanted to eat but I kept making her take pictures!

Cute dresses and sleepy nights October 29, 2009

Look at this adorable dress I bought for Olivia.  I found it at one of the cute shops at the CocoWalk.  I could buy that entire store out, but I’m afraid Paul would disown me.  So for now, I will have to settle for buying a few pieces at a time.

I have an announcement!  Drum roll please…Olivia is now sleeping 12-13 hours straight at night!  Woo hoo!  She has been on this schedule for the past 2 weeks, but I was afraid to blog about it in the event she regressed.  I think we are safe now.  So what are we doing different?  We are feeding her more during the day.  We decided to try to get her to up her formula intake to make up for the night time feed.  It worked like a charm.  She slept 12 hours the first day we tried it and she never looked back.

We found a daycare for Olivia finally.  She will be right by my work, so I can get to her whenever I need to.  I’m just hoping she will tolerate the commute to and from daycare.  We did a test run Wednesday morning and she did great on the 30 minute ride.  What I am more worried about is the 45-60 minute drive home.  Ugh…it gets old quick.

Our rainy weekend October 26, 2009

First off, let me introduce you to Olivia’s new favorite position to watch TV.  Let’s get another shot of it.

DSCN1708

Yes – that is my child.  And she amazes me everyday.  Who would have thought it would be comfortable to watch TV upside down?  You can see I am still sporting the “38103″ shirt.  I’m not ready to let go of Memphis yet.

This weekend was rainy and hot so we weren’t able to get to the beach.  We still have record breaking heat and it shows no signs of ending any time soon.  I am having to get another Halloween costume for Olivia because what I had originally planned for her to be will be too hot in this weather.  Any suggestions?

Friday night, we went to the Cocowalk and had dinner at a charming Italian restaurant.  We ate outside and Olivia stayed up the entire time flirting with everyone who walked past.

DSCN1711

Here is the cute outfit she wore.  We sure are getting our moneys worth out of the summer dresses.  And is case you didn’t notice…

DSCN1709

HER SHOES FIT NOW!  I’m so excited.  She has a closet full of shoes that she has not been able to wear until now.  I know, she really doesn’t need them until she walks, but sometimes it just makes the outfit.

DSCN1712

We decided that Olivia needs to start wearing her Halloween outfits (since she has 5!).  Saturday she donned a cute outfit that my friend, Katie, let her borrow.

DSCN1713

I wish we could figure out a way to get her to smile for the camera.  She’s not always this depressed I promise.  Once we get the camera out, she won’t budge.

Saturday we gave Olivia sweet potatoes for the first time.  To say she liked them is an understatement.  I couldn’t get the spoon to her mouth fast enough.  She has grown to be quite the inpatient baby (well, especially when eating).

DSCN1714

We had trouble with her at first because she kept staring at her Daddy and couldn’t get focused.  You think she’s a Daddy’s girl?

DSCN1716

Yum…those sweet potatoes are good!  Can I get some more?  Most of Saturday we spent grocery shopping, watching college football and playing with this little sweetie.  Hopefully next weekend, we will make it to the beach.  Olivia needs to wear those bathing suits!

Pics from my Hotel room in Colombia October 22, 2009

I’m back from Bogota!  I had a good time and we got a lot of work done.  I had to settle for pics from my hotel room because we worked late every day and I didn’t have time to get out and about.  The weather was a little chilly (in the 50s when we arrived).  Colombia has the same weather year round.  The highs are always around 70 -80 degrees everyday.  It is also pretty elevated.  The scenery was gorgeous.  There were mountains surrounding the whole city.

We stayed at a nice hotel, but they did not have heat so it was a little cold at night.  And as much as I was looking forward to Colombian food, we didn’t eat it once.  We had Italian, Spanish, and Seafood.  I guess the Colombians are tired of their food.  No problem, I can get it here in Miami!

I’m pretty tired.  We left the hotel at 6:30am and barely made our 9:30am flight.  The security in the Bogota airport is unbelieveable.  Nothing is getting through (drugs or bombs).  When we arrived in ATL, customs took forever and I made it to the gate just in time.  They actually closed the door behind me.  Due to issues with the plane (what’s new Delta?) we didn’t end up leaving for another hour and a half.  So I didn’t get back to our home until 9:30pm.  I was so upset because Olivia was already asleep and I would have to wait until the morning to see her.

I sure missed my little girl!  Paul and I skyped every night just so I could see her face.  I don’t want to miss one day of her growing up.  She is just getting so big.
